Construction company Balfour Beatty sponsored an informational session seeking local talent to help build the new Carroll County Administration building. The meeting occurred at the local Recreation Center, where the company showed the blueprints of the upcoming building. The new construction will be three stories at 66,000 square feet. The space will include offices for tags, the tax commissioner, and feature the latest Fire and Rescue headquarters. Senior Project Manager Josh Henson hopes for a “minimum of twenty-five percent of local participation.” The construction company expects to break ground in late May or early June, with an estimated duration of 17 months. For contractors interested in the project, contact Senior Preconstruction Manager Keenan Arnold at karnold@balfourbeattyus.com

The Neva Lomason Memorial Library will be closed from March 25 to March 29 for upgrades and changes to the facility. According to the Branch Manager, Kristen Milton, some updates patrons can expect are a restructured teen hangout, an improved library browsing experience, and updated signage throughout the building. She mentions that the changes will bring “a highlighted space for multilingual children's materials” and two self-checkout stations. All weekly club meetings and events will be canceled during the library's closure. The library is expected to open again on Saturday, March 30. During its reopening, library faculty will provide tours around the facility, informing library-goers how to use the new self-checkout systems. The nonprofit The REAL Theatre just concluded its first show of its 2024 season. “Love Letters” is a play written by A.R. Gurney, and it follows the story of lovers who have written to each other for over half a century. The show ran between March 1 and 3 at The Depot on Bradley. According to The REAL Theatre’s Co-Artistic director, Patrick Yuan, this show was “a fundraising production featuring a lot of our community leaders.” The theatre experienced its first sold-out show on March 2. Since the conclusion of “Love Letters,” the theater is now preparing for its conversation series. The REAL theatre was contacted, but it has not responded.
